Primary School
Learning, Loving and Living
Growing in Knowledge
At Casino Christian School our aim for primary students is to develop a love of learning, with a sense of excitement and joy. We believe that all students are gifted and talented and that students learn best when they are happy and engaged. Our environment fosters a cooperative approach to learning that encourages students’ imagination and creativity.
The small school environment ensures that each student is known and valued for who they are. We endeavour to build strong and meaning relationships with families and teach from the standpoint that we are partners with parents in the education of their children.
Primary School is foundational to a students’ life-long educational experience. It underpins their learning into adolescence and adulthood. At Casino Christian School, students do not ‘slip through the gaps’. They are taught with the highest academic standards in an environment which is nurturing and stimulating.
From Kindergarten to Year 6, we want children to:
-
-
Love School
-
Feel safe and Happy
-
Grow in their ability to learn
-
Be respected and cared for
-
Learn about God’s world and how it relates to their lives
-
The focus of these years is to lay a firm foundation of literacy and numeracy, along with all the other key competencies in History, Geography, PDHPE, Creative Arts and Science.
Throughout Primary School we seek to develop work habits with children of giving their best, being honest, considering other people and appreciating what you can learn by working together with others rather than in competition.
Primary Classroom Culture
The classroom culture at CCS is one where children are encouraged to take responsibility for respecting everyone’s right to learn, feeling comfortable to share their views safely, knowing they are an important member of their classroom community. Teachers model behaviour and attitudes in the form of:
“I do” – demonstrating an idea to children
“We do” – walking beside children as they attempt and learn
“You do” – allowing children to develop confidence, independence and skills
Forming a strong, trusting relationship between parents and staff is a vital foundation for children’s growth and development. We are committed from the outset for parents to feel welcome in the school and the classroom. We believe this has strong educational benefits when parents are part of the learning process in the school and at home. We endorse and promote the view that there are Strong educational benefits when parents are part of the learning process.
Grow in grace and knowledge.
