Thankful for God's Provision - Driveway Complete and Exciting Days Ahead!
We are filled with gratitude as we look back over this year so far, and thank God for His faithful provision. One significant highlight has been the long-awaited completion of our new school driveway! What a joy it is to finally drive in each day on such a beautifully smooth surface. Despite delays and disruptions along the way, we are deeply grateful for the patience and support of our school community throughout this process.
As we head into the final stretch of the Term 2, the school is abuzz with activity and excitement. Teachers are diligently preparing report cards, students are training for Athletics Day, and there is a real sense of anticipation as we prepare for two major upcoming events: our School Fete and Open Day—the first in nearly 20 years! These are wonderful opportunities to come together as a school and broader community to celebrate, connect, and showcase all that God is doing at Casino Christian School.
Beyond the school grounds, our students are also enjoying a range of enriching excursions. Some are heading to a local film festival, while our agricultural students will be out exploring real-world farming contexts. Meanwhile, our youngest learners are eagerly preparing for their visit to the beloved Macadamia Castle, now known as Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.

Beef Week Recap
Beef Week was a fantastic week with numerous local events and in-school events!
On Friday, the 30th May, we had the Mounted Police visit our Primary School students. This is always a highlight!
Our Beef Week Cow, which our students decorated, was displayed outside Summerland Credit Union for all to see!
The Commonwealth Bank displayed some of our Year 6 Artwork at their branch as part of their window competition.
Our CCS Stall was very popular with free face painting and balloons! It was lovely to see some of our school families drop in, as well as meet some of our local community who didn’t even know about us!
Thank you to all our School and Tumble Monkey’s Families who joined us in the Beef Week Parade! You all looked amazing in your costumes!
Your Input Matters - Please complete your family survey by 8th June!
Our school is using the Perspectives: Casino Christian School in focus suite of surveys developed by AISNSW to support our school improvement endeavours. The information gathered will assist in furthering the growth
and development of our school community.
We will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
These surveys have been specifically designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of stakeholders’ perceptions of five important areas: School Environment, Teaching and Learning, Student Wellbeing, Leadership and Community. All staff, students, parents/guardians, leaders and board members will be invited
to participate.
The surveys will be available from 26 May to 8 June 2025 and are conducted online, taking approximately 15
minutes to complete. The survey link will be distributed via email to all from ‘evidence@aisnsw.edu,au’ on
behalf of the school.
Your input and contribution are important to the success of our continuous school improvement process as we aspire to improve the learning experience for everyone at our school.

All orders must be collected from school between 2.30-4pm on Thursday 19th June 2025, they cannot be left at school.

Primary School Updates
Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary – Kindergarten & Year 1
On Wednesday the 2nd July, Kindergarten and Year 1 students will be travelling to Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, previously known as the Macadamia Castle. The aim of the excursion is for students to apply the knowledge they have learnt through our Science Units on Living Things and Geography Unit on Places and how we look after them. The cost of the excursion is Free.
Permission notes need to be returned to the office by Friday the 20th June.

High School Updates
Agriculture – Year 9 & 10
The Year 9 & 10 Agriculture class has just wrapped up an amazing hands-on experience!
Over the past two weeks, students took on the exciting challenge of caring for dairy calves, feeding them daily, whipping up milk powder, and ensuring they stayed healthy.
It was a fantastic journey filled with laughter, learning, and a bit of hard work! Alongside this immersive animal care, they explored fascinating topics like crop management and sustainability.
The students not only developed essential agricultural skills but also gained a newfound appreciation for the vital role farming plays in our lives. What a rewarding and unforgettable experience it has been!
On Tuesday, 10th June, the students will visit a local Dairy Farm to further their understanding of the skills they have learned.

Year 8 Visual Art
Year 8 Visual Arts have been learning about how artists like Roy De Maistre and Jeff Koons have been inspired by the world of sport. This term students have been designing and constructing a ceramic sports shoe. They have learned about slab construction methods and basic joining techniques including ‘score, slip, squiggle and smooth.’ Here are some photos of our progress so far. After the shoes are fired in the kiln, students will decorate their works with glaze and they will be fired again.

Book Club Issue 4 orders are due on the 13th of June.

State Cross Country Results
On Friday, May 30th, ten of our CCS students from both Primary and Secondary School traveled to the Sydney International Equestrian Centre to compete in the CSSA State Cross Country Championships.
The students performed exceptionally well, with several achieving personal bests! We applaud their courage to participate in such a significant event.

Zone Soccer Results
On Thursday, 22nd May, Casino Christian School proudly sent five teams—one Primary and four Secondary—to compete in the North Coast Zone Soccer Tournament. All teams demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination throughout the day.
Secondary Teams Results
U15 Girls – Coach: David McPherson
- Round 1: Lost 0-4 vs Summerland
- Round 2: Won 3-1 vs Richmond
- Round 3: Drew 1-1 vs Pacific Coast
- Round 4: Won 1-0 vs Coffs Harbour
These results saw the girls reach the Grand Final against Summerland. Despite an earlier loss to them, the team showed remarkable improvement, holding Summerland to a 1-1 draw until the final minutes, when a late goal sealed a 2-1 defeat. A strong team performance and excellent turnaround throughout the day.
Opens Girls – Coach: Peter Young
- Round 1: Won 5-0 vs Pacific Valley
- Round 2: Lost 0-5 vs Coffs Harbour
- Round 3: Lost 0-4 vs Pacific Coast
- Round 4: Lost 0-3 vs Summerland
After a dominant start, the team bounced back in the 3rd vs 4th playoff, defeating Summerland 3-2 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw. A fantastic way to finish the tournament.
U15 Boys – Coach: Josh Matthews
- Round 1: Won 4-1 vs PCCS
- Round 2: Lost 0-4 vs Richmond
- Round 3: Lost 0-5 vs Coffs Harbour
- Round 4: Won 4-1 vs St Andrews
- Round 5: Lost 0-2 vs Pacific Valley
- Round 6: Drew 0-0 vs Summerland (Mutual Forfeit)
The boys finished 5th out of 7 teams, showing great enthusiasm and respect throughout the competition.
Opens Boys – Coach: Jason Convery
- Round 1: Drew 1-1 vs Richmond
- Round 2: Lost 0-1 vs Pacific Valley
- Round 3: Lost 1-4 vs Coffs Harbour
- Round 4: Lost 0-5 vs Summerland
The Opens team remained competitive in each match, showing grit and commitment. Special mention to Captain Angus Gibson for his leadership, encouragement, and positive representation of the school.
Primary Team – Coach: Kerry Frahm
The Primary team enjoyed a sunny day at Kingscliff with strong performances:
- Game 1: Won 8-0 vs Richmond A
- Game 2: Drew 2-2 vs Summerland
- Game 3: Lost 0-1 vs Coffs Harbour
- Game 4: Won 8-0 vs Pacific Valley
The team advanced to a playoff vs Richmond B, who had been undefeated. The game ended 1-1, leading to a dramatic penalty shootout, which Richmond won 3-2. Richmond players later commented that Casino was the best team they had faced.
Despite the result, the boys played with heart, humility, and unity. Goal scorers included Jack, Landon, Aidan, Reece, Oliver, and Patrick. Their camaraderie and positive attitude were a credit to the school.
Athletics Carnival
We are excited to share the details of the 2025 Athletics Carnival, which will be held over two days at Casino Christian School:
- Secondary Athletics Carnival – Wednesday, 18th June
- Primary Athletics Carnival – Thursday, 19th June
Due to the large number of events, some will be held over the four weeks leading up to the carnivals. Please read the following information carefully to ensure your child is prepared for all activities.
Secondary Athletics Events
- Track: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m & 1500m
- Field: Javelin, Discus, Shot Put, High Jump & Long Jump
Primary Athletics Events (turning 8 years and up in 2025)
- Track: 100m, 200m, 800m & 1500m
- Field: Discus, Shot Put, High Jump & Long Jump
Note: All 8- to 10-year-olds will compete against each other for every field event, 800m & 1500m.
Infants Events (turning 7 years and under in 2025)
- These students will participate in modified events during the Primary Athletics Carnival
Important dates to remember leading up to each carnival:
- Friday 23rd May: Secondary will compete in the 1500m track event during Year 7 to 10 sport.
Senior secondary students can join in if they want or stay in class. Primary students will
compete in this event around 2.20 pm after the secondary students have finished. -
Friday 30th May & Friday 6th June:
Secondary students will compete in the Discus & Javelin during 7 to 10 secondary sport. Senior students who want to compete can join in during this time or stay in class.
HELPERS NEEDED
As this is a big event for our staff to coordinate, we would really appreciate some parent assistance with
timekeeping, ribbon writing and a variety of other jobs. If you are able to assist, please complete the
section on the attached form and drop it in to the School Office by Thursday 5th June or alternatively call the school and leave a message or send an email to dmcpherson@ccs.nsw.edu.au
