Is the Bible the Word of God?
Can we be sure that God has spoken through the Bible? The Bible is unlike any other book in the world. Its history is striking, its message is impeccable, its influence is incomparable, its unity is amazing and its accuracy is remarkable. How do we explain its uniqueness? Is it collusion or is it a coincidence. The Bible is far too complex to accept those options!
- Reason demands it.
- History verifies it.
- The manuscripts support it – see table below;
- Prophesy proves it. Jesus confirmed it.
- The Bible led to modern science.
For some the statement that the Bible led to Modern Science is a suprising line of evidence because many people opposed to Christians claim that Christianity and Science have been enemies for centuries. The truth is diametrically opposed to such assertions. Informed historians of Science, including people without a Christian faith, have pointed out that Modern Science first flourished under a Christian worldview. Cultures, such as ancient Greece, China and Arabia, had not produced scientific thought of this kind at that point in history.
There are certain essential prerequisites that make Science possible which come from an understanding of who God is and how he has made us. It is no surprise why Science works.
- There is such a thing as objective truth (John 14:6);
- The universe is real because God created the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1);
- The universe is orderly, because God is a God of order not of confusion (1Cor 14:33)
- Since God is Sovereign, He was free to create as He pleased;
- Man can and should investigate the world, because God gave us dominion over His creation (Gen 1:28); creation is not divine;
- Man can initiate thoughts and actions; they are not fully determined by deterministic laws of brain chemistry;
- Man can think rationally and logically, and logic itself is objective.
The uniqueness of the Bible can be explained by the fact that there is only one author behind all the books of the Bible: God Himself. The unity of the Bible is only one unique feature that separates it from all other books ever written.

Teaching Our Children about Forgiveness
In the Bible, forgiveness is a prominent theme and something Jesus commands us all to do. Therefore, it’s an essential concept we must teach our children. Yet, the act of forgiving does not come easy. Far too often, people hold it against those who have wronged them. However, choosing forgiveness over anger and resentment is liberating. It also restores us in relationships and community with one another.
Reflect Upon the Forgiveness Offered to Us Through Jesus
Understanding and accepting the fact that Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins on the cross, so that we might have a relationship with God, allows us to develop an ‘attitude of forgiveness’. God graciously develops this attitude in us which then leads to a change in our behaviour towards others.
Teach Children that Forgiveness is Something Jesus Commands us to do
The best reason to forgive is because Jesus commanded us to forgive. We learn from Scripture that if we don’t forgive, we will not be forgiven.
‘For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men for their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.’ Matthew 6:14-16
Demonstrate Forgiveness to Our Children
When children hurt each other in some way, the School seeks to restore relationships and, in the process, encourages forgiveness towards one another. (Keep in mind that offering forgiveness is not the same thing as excusing bad behaviour. It merely creates a healthy atmosphere for discussing, correcting and fixing that behaviour.)
Teach Children the Consequence of Choosing not to Forgive
We also know it is important to help children understand that holding onto hurt, anger and resentment can lead to ongoing issues. In fact forgiveness releases us from heavy burdens and assists us to understand the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. This then allows us to be strengthened in our relationships with one another.
‘Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you’. Colossians 3:13
School Updates
SLSO Appreciation Week
Last week, we had the joy of celebrating SLSO Appreciation Week, giving thanks for our wonderful Student Learning Support Officers and the significant difference they make in the lives of our students.
Our SLSOs demonstrate Christ’s love through their patience, compassion, encouragement and care. Each day, they walk alongside students, providing support, celebrating their achievements and helping them navigate challenges with confidence. Through their dedication, they help create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student is valued, known and encouraged to flourish.
We are reminded in 1 Thessalonians 5:11:
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
These words beautifully reflect the heart of our SLSO team. Their work is about so much more than supporting students in the classroom. Through their relationships and daily encouragement, they help build confidence, strengthen wellbeing and empower our students to recognise their God-given gifts and abilities.
Throughout the week, we took the opportunity to express our gratitude and celebrate the dedication, compassion and joy our SLSOs bring to our school community. We are truly blessed by the way they serve our students and demonstrate care and kindness each day.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing SLSO team! We thank God for each of you and for the unique gifts, wisdom and compassion you bring to our school. Your service makes a lasting difference, and we are so grateful for all that you do to help our students feel supported, valued and encouraged to flourish.
“Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:14

Primary Updates
Father’s Day Breakfast & Primary Assembly
What a wonderful morning of food, fellowship, fun and faith as we celebrated the special men in our families! A huge thank you to all the dads, granddads, Pa’s, uncles and family members who joined us for our Father’s Day Breakfast. We were truly blessed to share breakfast together, enjoy great conversations and even witness a little friendly competition in our handball tournament! We are so grateful for the gift of family and for the men who encourage, guide, love and support our children. We pray that God continues to strengthen and bless each of you as you lead and nurture the next generation.
Our Primary students also enjoyed a special assembly where dads were invited to share their best dad jokes — bringing plenty of laughter and smiles to the morning!
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful staff who helped organise and make the morning such a special occasion.
“The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him!” — Proverbs 20:7
We give thanks to God for the fathers and father figures in our community, and for the blessing of coming together as one family.
Primary ‘Country Classic’ Spring Social
Yeehaw! What a ripper of a night we had at our Spring Social – A Country Classic!
Our students swapped their school uniforms for their finest country gear and came together for an evening packed with fun, laughter and plenty of country spirit.
There were plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, with students getting involved, enjoying time with their friends and making some great memories along the way. After filling up on a delicious BBQ and sausage sizzle, it was time to dust off those dancing boots!
The evening came to a fantastic finish with a barn dance under the fairy lights, with plenty of toe-tapping, twirling and laughter as our students and staff embraced the country theme. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved and enjoying such a fun night together.
A huge thank you and hats off to our wonderful staff and everyone who helped make the evening happen. Your hard work behind the scenes helped create such a memorable event for our students.
And to our families, thank you for getting behind the event and helping us make it such a success.
Secondary Updates
Stage 5 Information Night – Planning for the Future
It was wonderful to welcome families to our Stage 5 Information Night on Tuesday 8 September. The evening provided an important opportunity for students and parents to come together, learn more about the transition into Stage 5, and begin thinking about the exciting learning opportunities ahead.
There was a fantastic level of engagement, with 36 subject selection forms returned on the night. This is a wonderful reflection of the enthusiasm and thought our families are putting into planning for the next stage of their child’s education.
Throughout the evening, families gained valuable insight into Stage 5 subject choices, what to expect in Years 9 and 10, pathways and opportunities, and ways students can prepare for the next stage of their learning journey. It was also a great opportunity to connect with staff, ask questions and have meaningful conversations about each student’s strengths, interests and future goals.
We are grateful to all the families who attended and contributed to such a positive andinformative evening. Events like this highlight the strength of our school community as we work together to support our students to plan today and prepare for tomorrow.
Building Safer Online Communities
A big thank you to the Casino Police Liaison Officers for visiting our school on Thursday, 10 September, and spending time with our Secondary students.
The visit provided our students with valuable insights into online safety, responsible social media use, and making positive choices in the digital world. Students had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about navigating social media responsibly, protecting personal information, recognising potential online risks, and understanding the importance of respectful online behaviour.
These conversations are increasingly important as young people spend more time connected through digital platforms. Hearing practical advice and real-world perspectives from our local Police Liaison Officers helped reinforce the message that staying safe online requires awareness, responsibility and good decision-making.
We sincerely appreciate the time and expertise the officers shared with our students and their ongoing support of our school community.
Thank you to our Casino Police Liaison Officers for helping our students become safer, more informed and responsible digital citizens!
Sport Updates
Wet Weather Sport Year 7 to 10
There are quite a few secondary sport days throughout the year that are generally cancelled due to wet weather. It would be fantastic if students could still participate when it is wet. In order to do this, we need parental approval and a guarantee that students will bring to school a spare school uniform to wear after sport is finished.
In order for your child to participate in sport during wet weather they will need to wear their sports uniform to school with their school shoes. They will also need to bring the following items to school in a bag:
- Change of clothes to get wet and muddy (they must be appropriate, or you won’t participate)
- Football boots or joggers (to use during sport)
- Towel
- Water bottle & hat
They will only be allowed to participate in wet weather sport if they bring the above items.
