Swimming Carnival 2025 Showdown: A Day of Heat and Heart!
On a scorching day, the heat wasn’t the only thing rising at the annual Swimming Carnival at Casino Memorial Pool. The competition between the three houses—Elliot, Liddell, and Taylor—was fierce, with each team determined to claim victory! As temperatures soared, so did the spirit of cheering and energy in the pool, making for a thrilling day of fast-paced races and incredible performances. Every stroke was a battle for the top spot! Congratulations to all swimmers for their dedication and effort, and a special shout-out to the house that swam their way to glory!
Congratulations Liddell!

School News
New Building
Over the holidays, we were very pleased to see the installation of our new high school classrooms. We expect these new classrooms to be ready for students to use within the coming weeks after some finishing touches are made.
Parking/Driveway
Our driveway is currently under construction. Therefore, there may be, at times, some disruption to entering the school; these should be fairly minimal now as we approach the final stages of its completion.
Feedback
There may be times when you would like to give feedback to the school, whether it be for positive reasons or perhaps because there is something we could be doing better. Whatever it may be, we respect your input. Please email: feedback@ccs.nsw.edu.au
CCS Bus Forms
Students who travel on our CCS Lismore, Kyogle or Fairy Hill buses were sent home with bus forms last week. These need to be signed and returned to the school office as soon as possible.
School Stream
Do you have the School Stream App? If you don’t you could miss important communication from the school. Not only that but many great features can be helpful.
Some of the great features are:
- Absentee Form – fill this out if your child is absent
- Uniform Ordering
- Access copies of excursion forms
- School Calendar – view up-to-date calendars of events and add them to your own Google Calendar.
- View recent news and important school updates.
To download the App, follow the instructions below.
Canteen
The canteen is available on Fridays if students wish to order lunch or purchase snacks at lunchtime. To place an order, write the student’s name, class, and selection on a paper bag with money enclosed. Hand into the box at the office by Friday morning. Please see the Canteen Menu below.
Canteen Helpers
Our canteen is a fantastic service to our school, run predominately by volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a regular canteen helper on a Friday, please get in touch with our canteen coordinator, Jody, with your availability to stonelea@internode.on.net
All school helpers or volunteers need to have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC), which can be easily applied for at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-for-a-working-with-children-check and complete our Volunteer Agreement and return to the school office. NAPLAN 2025 parent and carer information
Each year the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is sat by students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Students will participate in tests for writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
NAPLAN 2025 will take place from Wednesday 12 March to Monday 24 March.
NAPLAN is just one part of our school’s learning assessment program. The tests assess literacy and numeracy skills your child is already learning at school, so the best preparation is their everyday classroom learning. Our school will also undertake activities to help students become familiar with the types of questions and tools available in the online tests.
The public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site) is available for you to see the format of the online tests.
Further information about NAPLAN is available on the NESA website (https://www.nsw.gov.au/education-and-training/nesa/naplan) and the NAP website (https://www.nap.edu.au/naplan/for-parents-carers).
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please get in touch with your child’s teacher. If your child is identified as having a disability and/or needing adjustments, please see the information attached, and if you require further assistance, please contact:

Maths Help
If you are looking for homework help for your child for Mathematics, look no further. CCS runs two weekly “Maths Help” sessions which are staffed by our Maths teachers – one after school on Mondays and one during lunch on Wednesdays. Students are welcome to bring their homework (both textbook or Mathspace), or to come with requests for extension activities, support activities, or simply to ask for help with particular concepts. Sometimes students need to hear a concept explained a second time in order to feel confident to attempt the set work.
Attending Maths Help gives students the opportunity to ask for those second explanations. If you have limited computer access at home, attending Maths Help is also an opportunity for students to access the homework and other activities set through the online platform Mathspace.
You don’t need to give notice that your child will be coming, but if you’d like us to be encouraging them to attend, it would be helpful to let your child’s Maths teacher know have asked them to attend. On the very rare occasions we need to cancel the Monday afternoon Maths help, a message will go out on School Stream.
