Senior Camp Adventure: Teamwork, Challenges & Lifelong Skills

Last week, our senior students embarked on an unforgettable camp experience filled with adventure, teamwork, and valuable life lessons. From the moment they set off, it was clear this trip would be about more than just fun—it was about independence, problem-solving, and building strong connections.

One of the highlights of the camp was The Amazing Race, where students navigated their way across the Gold Coast, buying bus tickets, working out transport routes, and making strategic decisions on the go. This hands-on challenge put their planning and teamwork skills to the test in a fast-paced, exciting way.

Another key aspect of the trip was learning how to be self-sufficient. Students took charge of organising, purchasing, and preparing their own meals, gaining a real sense of responsibility and accomplishment along the way.

The fun continued with a scavenger hunt at Wet ‘n’ Wild, encouraging students to think on their feet while enjoying the thrill of the water park. Of course, plenty of time was spent strengthening friendships and getting to know each other better before the ultimate challenge—handing in their phones! But after such an action-packed few days, everyone slept like a log.

The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. They loved the experiences, the accommodation, and the challenges that pushed them outside their comfort zones. It was truly a camp to remember!

Introducing our New Proposed Uniform Design!

Casino Christian School is excited to introduce our proposed new uniform designs! After gathering input from across our school community over the last 12 months, we have worked hard to create a design that reflects our shared values and vision. A special thanks goes to all the students who were surveyed, the P & F Committee for their tireless support and feedback, and the local subcommittee for their collective support and wisdom.

Some key feedback that has informed this design include;

Parents wanted a uniform that is cost-efficient, smart, stylish, and consistent across K-12.
Students asked for comfort and a uniform they could wear and feel proud in.
Staff emphasised the importance of distinguishing our school while creating a fresh, modern look.
The Board wanted to ensure the new design was in line with our current branding and image.

You will notice that the proposed new designs align with our updated logo and branding, bringing our school a refreshed and unified look. We are excited to share this proposed design, noting that there may be certain changes, etc, as we progress. We also wanted to share that the secondary skirts will now come with built-in bike shorts for comfort and modesty for our female students. Note also that the Formal design is consistent across Primary and Secondary.

We welcome your thoughts via email at feedback@ccs.nsw.edu.au. This proposed design will go to our School Board for formal approval later this term to progress to the next step.

The uniform transition will take place gradually over 18 months to two years to allow families time to adjust. We will provide more information once the designs are finalised.

Thank you for your support as we take this exciting step forward together!

“We’re Going on an Office Hunt”

Kindergarteners have been reading the book “Were Going on a Bear Hunt”, so today, instead of a bear hunt, they came on a hunt for our school office!

Kindy explored the school in search of the office and made some exciting discoveries along the way!  Once they reached the office, they made themselves comfortable in Mrs Hull’s office!

Students enriching teachers.

How wonderful when the teachers can be enriched by their students. Dr G thanks Lexie in Yr 7 for introducing her to the wonderful series of Murderous Maths books. These books are similar to the Horrible Histories or Horrible Science books. If you are looking for a way to extend your child or get them more interested in Mathematics, why not try getting them some Murderous Maths books to read?

Maths Help

If you are looking for homework help for your child for Mathematics, look no further. CCS runs two weekly “Maths Help” sessions which are staffed by our Maths teachers – one after school on Mondays and one during lunch on Wednesdays. Students are welcome to bring their homework (both textbook or Mathspace), or to come with requests for extension activities, support activities, or simply to ask for help with particular concepts. Sometimes students need to hear a concept explained a second time in order to feel confident to attempt the set work.

Attending Maths Help gives students the opportunity to ask for those second explanations. If you have limited computer access at home, attending Maths Help is also an opportunity for students to access the homework and other activities set through the online platform Mathspace.

You don’t need to give notice that your child will be coming, but if you’d like us to be encouraging them to attend, it would be helpful to let your child’s Maths teacher know have asked them to attend.

On the very rare occasions we need to cancel the Monday afternoon Maths help, a message will go out on School Stream.

Maths Help will run in 2025 on:
Monday 3:10-4:00pm in D8 Run by Dr G with help from Mrs Z and Mr M
Wednesday 1:00-1:40pm in D8 Run by Dr G with help from Mrs T
