Settling Back into School

Hello wonderful Parents and Caregivers!

With the new year of school, many of our precious kiddos have been experiencing some nerves about being back at school and resuming a new routine. Even as an adult, the thought of starting a whole new year has been quite daunting for me! One of the main things we can do to support our kiddos throughout this transition is to create a sense of safety around being back at school. A sense of safety can be built by the big people in children’s lives through clear communication, consistency/routine, connecting with the school community and maintaining a positive attitude and language about going to school.

Here are two links that will provide further insight and support as you navigate this often tricky time of year together with your kiddos. Both websites contain all sorts of useful information and resources that will prove to be invaluable to anyone raising children.

I pray that there will be great peace in your hearts and homes in 2024. “May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace” Numbers 6:24-26.

With kindness,

Josephine Lake, School Counsellor.
