Does your child or young person need support?

At Casino Christian School we have Student Counselling and Wellbeing Support Services. This service is for students who would benefit from having an opportunity for your child to talk about their concerns with the Student Counsellor or Student Wellbeing team member, in a safe and confidential setting.

If you have any concerns about your child or young person and would like them to be referred to the School Counsellor or Student Wellbeing team member, please speak to the Classroom Teacher first.

If the Classroom Teacher concludes that a student would benefit from counselling/wellbeing support, they will contact the Principal who will decide on referral to the Student Counsellor or Wellbeing Team member.  All information will be kept confidential and on a ‘need-to-know’ basis.

In-school referrals can also be made by teaching and support staff, or self-referral by a student. These referrals will also be managed by the Principal.   A one-time brief discussion may be had with the student by the Student Counsellor to ascertain the need for ongoing support. If ongoing support is required, the parent/s or caregiver/s will be contacted to gain informed consent.

The Student Counsellor currently works limited days, so students with the highest needs are prioritised. Other Wellbeing team members will be engaged where it is deemed a good fit for meeting the student’s needs. Recommendations for external referrals may also be provided by the School Counsellor.

Please note that only the Student Counsellor provides counselling.

At Casino Christian School we aim to cultivate trust and a sense of safety with our students and their families through the promotion of the principles of confidentiality and discretion. We appreciate that at times, however, there can be a hesitancy to consent to counselling or wellbeing services for your child or young person due to poor experiences with mental health services/professionals.  This is in fact not uncommon.  Please be assured that we will always aim to be transparent with you, holding you and your child as the ‘experts’ and we as the support system around you.  If you require any further clarification or reassurance about the value of your child or young person accessing the counselling and wellbeing services at Casino Christian School, please reach out to the Principal, Learning Support Coordinator or Student Counsellor.
