On 26th February, our school took part in a special Community Forum evening to discuss the priorities and projects for the future in the Richmond Valley. The main objective of the Forum was to provide information and support to the Richmond Valley Council as they evaluate the current Community Strategic Plan and develop goals and key areas of priority for the future. It was a privilege for me to attend on behalf of our Principal, Mrs. Hull, and the entire school community.

The forum welcomed a diverse array of community members, including representatives from the business and enterprise sector, emergency services, social welfare groups, health organisations, and other local institutions. Notably, every local council member, including the mayor and the General Manager, were present and eager to listen to the community’s voices and perspectives. Our school, CCS, was one of only a few schools invited to participate, advocating for the entire education sector and the families and young people we support. This reflects well on our reputation in the region.

During the event, we engaged in small group discussions to identify both opportunities and challenges, as well as other key areas of need and potential. We proposed ideas on how different levels of government could enhance the future and well-being of the Richmond Valley.

The Richmond Valley extends beyond Casino to include Evans Head, Broadwater, Whiporie, Rappville, Coraki, and Woodburn. We praise God for the naturally rich and diverse environment of the Richmond Valley and feel fortunate to be part of such a magnificent area. Although our community faces challenges and difficulties, it was a true privilege for our school to contribute as a valued voice in this important conversation about the future.

Parent Teacher Interviews are next week, Thursday 20th March, from 3.30 – 8.00 pm.

Emails will go out tomorrow with a direct link to make your booking with your child’s teachers.

We highly recommend parents attend the interviews as they are an integral part of the Parent-School Partnership we seek to develop.

Appointments are limited to 10 minutes only. If a longer time is needed to talk with the teacher, a later time can be arranged at the interview.  If you are unable to book an interview with a specific teacher on interview night, please email the teacher directly.

Lunch Time at CCS

Lunchtime can be a mixed bag for students; while some look forward to it, others experience anxiety, especially when navigating the bustling chaos of the playground.
To create a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone at CCS, we’ve introduced a variety of alternative play areas over the past couple of years.
Here’s what we offer:
  • A Passive Play Area: This space is designed for relaxation and sensory engagement, featuring an assortment of interactive play items and calming games.

  • The Library: A cozy oasis for those seeking peace and quiet, where students can dive into a good book, enjoy board games, or unleash their creativity with coloring activities.

Additionally, we have a series of Bible groups available throughout the week, catering to different grades. These groups provide a welcoming environment for students to connect and share during lunchtime.

With these options, we aim to ensure that lunchtime becomes a time of joy and comfort for every student.

Primary Assembly – Tomorrow

I just wanted to remind our wonderful school community that we have our Primary School Assembly again this Friday morning in the MPC.

Unfortunately this week Year 5 will not be attending the Assembly as they have a NAPLAN session on Friday morning.

All parents, carers and relatives are welcome to attend the assembly and see the amazing works our students are doing.

Blessings to you all,

Mr Frahm
Primary Head of Learning
