 On Friday, 8 May 2026, a special afternoon was shared as students and families gathered for the Mother’s Day Lunch. It was a wonderful opportunity for students and their mothers, grandmothers and carers to simply be together and enjoy some of the delicious sandwiches and desserts prepared by Year 11 & 12 Hospitality students. Numerous coffees were also made and enjoyed, but the best part of the afternoon was the opportunity for busy mums to take a moment to sit and enjoy time with their children. 

It was so encouraging to hear from several of the mothers who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to be together and connect with one another.

Gratitude is extended to the mums, grandmothers and the women who serve as a guiding presence. Their support and commitment to families and the school community are deeply valued and is a beautiful reflection of strong country values. It is known that every family story is unique, and honour is given to all who step up to provide care and guidance.

In the Scriptures, the Fifth Commandment is declared by Moses in Exodus 20:12: “Honour your father and mother.” This instruction is again emphasised in Ephesians 5–6 as part of the guidance for Christian households. Ephesians 6:2 reminds us:

“Honour your father and mother” — which is the first commandment with a promise — “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

We are also reminded in 2 Timothy 1:5 of the powerful influence of faithful women and the legacy they pass on through generations:

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”

Thank you again to all the women who attended our Mother’s Day afternoon. Great appreciation is felt for your presence and the positive impact you have on the children and the community. May the gift of you continue to be celebrated.

Calling all K–12 adventurers to join us for Pirate Day! Dress up in your best pirate gear—think eye patches, hats, stripes, and plenty of swagger—as we set sail on a mission to make a difference.

We’re raising funds to help turn the tide on kids’ brain cancer. Sadly, more children in Australia lose their lives to brain cancer than any other disease, and treatments can leave lasting impacts. That’s why every dollar truly counts.

So gather your crew, bring your gold coins, and let’s work together to make childhood brain cancer walk the plank!

Waste To Art Competition

The competition invites artists of all ages to reimagine waste by turning discarded items into meaningful works of art. The competition is help raise awareness of the imortance of sustainability in our lives.

So, whether it’s a striking gown made from old curtains, or a portrait using bottle tops the goal is to inspire people to see value in things we usually throw away.

That could mean donating, reselling, repairing, upcycling, or recycling

We’re looking for standout creations that inspire others to see value in the things we often throw away.

2026 House of Representatives Yarning Competition

Year 10 student, Tamika O’Neill has proudly entered the 2026 House of Representatives Yarning Competition with a powerful painting that reflects her experiences. Through her artwork, Tamika explores themes of identity, connection, and cultural pride.

Her painting shares the story of finding strength through the school’s Yarn Circle painting group, where Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students come together to learn, create, and share culture. Tamika’s work highlights how art can build understanding and connection within the school community.

We congratulate Tamika on her thoughtful and courageous entry and wish her all the best in the competition.

PRIMEX LISMORE FIELD DAY EXCURSION – Thursday 21st May 2026

Year 9 & 10 Agriculture students will be attending the Primex Expo in Lismore this week.

Primex offers students a valuable opportunity to engage with agricultural products, explore emerging technologies, and learn about sustainable farming practices. It provides a real-world learning experience across a wide range of agricultural sectors.

• Supervising teachers: Mr Ludwig and Mrs Wade
• Transport: School bus
• Note: Students will remain in groups and will have the opportunity to
  purchase food. Students will be required to provide one phone
  number from the group so that they can be contacted.
• Cost: NIL
• What to Wear: School uniform or School shirt plus Jeans/boots. (Covered shoes only)

Time: Depart school approximately at 9.20 am. Return to school at 2:30pm

Wet Weather Sport  Year 7 to 10

There are quite a few secondary sport days throughout the year that are generally cancelled due to wet weather. It would be fantastic if students could still participate when it is wet. In order to do this, we need parental approval and a guarantee that students will bring to school a spare school uniform to wear after sport is finished.

In order for your child to participate in sport during wet weather they will need to wear their sports uniform to school with their school shoes. They will also need to bring the following items to school in a bag:

• Change of clothes to get wet and muddy (they must be appropriate, or you won’t participate)
• Football boots or joggers (to use during sport)
• Towel
• Water bottle & hat

They will only be allowed to participate in wet weather sport if they bring the above items.

Yr 9 & 10 PASS and Yr11 & 12 SLR Bush Walking at Minyon Falls Excursion

On Friday 22^nd May 2026, the senior SLR class and the PASS elective class will be travelling to Minyon Falls for a bushwalk to the bottom of the falls. An important component of these subjects is promoting learning through movement by experiencing physical activities that are not usually done in school sport or PE.

Excursion Details

• 7:00 AM – Depart by bus from Casino Christian School
• 8.00 AM – Arrive at Minyon Falls
• 8:30 AM – Walk from Minyon Falls lookout to the base of Minyon Falls then back up to Minyon Grass Picnic area.
• 1.00 PM – Have lunch at Minyon Grass picnic area
• 1:30 PM – Leave Minyon Grass for school
• 2:45 PM – Arrive back at school.

What to bring

• Comfortable and sensible walking clothes and walking shoes
• Large Plastic water bottle or a few small water bottles
• Food and snacks
• Small towel if you ant to walk through the water
• Enclosed shoes (no crocs, thongs or slides for the bus trip
• Asthma puffer and any required medication
• Hat and Suncreen (if you do not like the school sunscreen)

Electronic devices (e.g. mobile phones) are not to be used on the bus and must remain switched off in bags unless needed for an emergency.

New Uniform Orders: Just a reminder that Year 7 – 12 are required to wear a navy tie with their formal uniform. These are now back in stock and available to order.

Regular fitting and collection days during school terms will be on Wednesdays, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Students can schedule fittings by emailing uniform@ccs.nsw.edu.au with their student’s name and year. Parents do not need to attend fittings; uniform staff will ensure they are correctly fitted and sent home with a list of sizes for each item.

We also have a limited amount of our current uniform stock available at 50% off (excluding hats). These items may be purchased directly from the Uniform Shop while stock lasts.

Just a few notes regarding the uniform:

• We now have available to order two styles of girls’ blouses – the slimfit and a normal fit blouse. This will be clearly labelled on the new order forms, with the slimfit shirts in a red font. Please order according to the size indicated on the size sheet brought home from your child’s fitting.
• We have amended the girls’ uniform slightly so that during colder weather, navy opaque stockings can be worn with the skort or skirts, as an alternative to pants.
